Worth every damned bit of sacrifice...
~Jimmy Buffet
I'm coming to Florida on a Sunday for one simple reason. I have work to do and I want to get home on Thursday for Thanksgiving. The theory is that, if I get here early enough, I'll be able to get done in time to get home. Let's hope it works...
Of course, there are much worse places to be than Florida.
It is a balmy 85 degrees outside. I rather enjoy driving around with the windows down and Jimmy Buffet blaring out of the radio. It makes for a nice change of pace. I was lucky enough to discover a "Five Guys" next to my hotel. I have to say that I enjoyed walking off my juicy cheeseburger in this lovely weather. I'm not sure if it honestly gets much better than this.
As seredipity would have it, the rental company in Tampa gave me a Toyota Corolla. I think this is the 6th Corolla that I have driven this month. It is a good thing that I'm loyal to the brand.
Of course, I should learn by now that I'm going to get hit just when everything is going right. When I got to the customer's place, I learned what problems they had and I went out to inspect the equipment to see what I could do about it. The first thing I found was this photo on the left. Of course, I had to remove that nut. Meanwhile, the family of paper wasps that setup housekeeping on our machinery were oblivious to the fact that their eviction was at hand. I served them their subpoena with a 12 foot long 2 x 4 and then ran like a Nigerian sprinter to the opposite side of the yard. After about 20 minutes, I mustered the courage to return to the scene only to discover that I had wounded the poor insects. I took pity on them and used my boot to send them to their eternity. One more merciless day in field service...
